Critical History
The pulpit of the parish church of St Mary of the Assumption in Cirkovce was originally made for the old church, later reconstructed between 1904 and 1906 after the plan of architect Hans Pascher from 1899.1 Sergej Vrišer attributed the pulpit architecture and its ornaments – the massive rococo style cartouches and three reliefs with the depictions of Noah's Ark, Tower of David and the Rose of Jericho – to Joseph Straub,2 while he attributed the sculptures of the Good Shepherd and two kneeling angels from the pulpit roof to Joseph Holzinger.3
Construction / Execution
The sculpture is made of wood. The drapery is imitating gold and silver, the sculpture´s skin parts and the sheep are naturalistically painted.

Comment
The sculpture has at least one repolychromy. The drapery is painted with silver bronze, the coat is covered with metal leaves.
Sergej Vrišer also mentioned an angel head on the roof of the pulpit, but today it is lost.#N-4#
