Critical History

In the list of Lippert the 2 sidea ltars dedicated St Epiphany and St Anna have number 21.1 Volk dates the altars in 1750 and 1754.# N-2# The form of the architecture is for the 2 parallel sidealtars the same. The Epiphanyaltar is standing on the southern side of the nave. The pillars on both sides are positioned diagonally over a corner. Two consoles on both sides form the lower final. Two vases decorate the upper zone left and right.The round towelpainting of St Thomas and St Vitus and the main painting which is showing the Adoration of the 3 Kings are not attributed to a painters name. The painting on top of the altar is accompagnied by an angel on its left side and an cherub on its right side. In front of the predella the sculpture of St Vitus with the vessel is presented. Both altars were payed by Anna von Ruffini, The sister of Dean Unertl and the wife of Xaver Ruffini who was a "Hofkammerrat."

Both altars are built from wood, the sculptures are carved by wood both have a painting layer.

Comment

After the 2nd worldwar the position of the altars was changed from the 6th chapel counted from the East to the 4th chapel. There is no mensa.
