Critical History
Sergej Vrišer attributed one sculpture in the attic of the high altar in the Parish Church of St Philip and St James in Laporje to Joseph Straub.1 It is a sculpture of St Stephen on the right side of the attic, which shows characteristics of Joseph Straub`s personal style: the posture, the creases of the drapery (the significant “open” crease at the lower hem of the garment), curly hair, open mouths and big open eyes.

Comment
The altar has at least one repolychromy. Due to the position of the attic, we could not analyse paint layers. There are visible overpaints on the gilding with silver bronze.
