Critical History
Lippert gives for the pulpit no. 21. 1 For the pulpit exists a drawing by Ignaz Günther (Nürnberg GNM, Hz. 3893). The pulpit looks different from the pulpits that J. B. Straub designed for Dießen, Schäftlarn and Vienna. May be Straub had to execute the pulpit following the drawing of his pupil. The same thing happened in Grafrath St Rasso. Volk dates the pulpit in 1756. 2 On top of the soundcap a sculptural group with Jesus Christ as Salvator Mundi sitting on the globe an angel playing the trombone some clouds and 3 heads of puttis with wings is arranged. On the bachground of the pulpitbasket is a 18th century panelpainting of high quality showing a bust portrait of St Paul.

Comment
The church was heavily destroyed during World War II. The upper part of the pulpit seems to be more or less from 18th century. The relief with the "Good Shepherd" on the front of the pulpit/basket was removed in 19th century. In 1934, the relief showing the Stigmatisation of S. Franciscus by Konrad Ritter v. Hofmann, 1934 was installed. The tree on the right side of the relief seems to be original (18th century). #N-3# Photos of the condition before World War II can be found in the books of Carola Giedion-Welcker and Peter Steiner.
