Critical History

We don´t know the origin of this group. Volk has mentioned it in his Straub-Monographie as "Tabernakelbekrönung " (crown of a tabernacle). He also mentions the similarity to the lamp with seven seals on top of the tabernacle at the highaltar in Schäftlarn, St Dionys and Juliana. Volk dates the group about 1750-60. The invno. is 1977/34. 1

Construction / Execution

The sculptures are carved by limewood, the book is made of fir tree. The remained rests of a painting layer are for the book and the sheep white and gold and pink for the fleshtone.
