Critical History
Two sculptures, namely St John of Nepomuk and St Francis Xavier (?), on the high altar in the Succursal Church of St John the Baptist were attributed to Joseph Straub by Sergej Vrišer.1 He compared the architecture of the altar with the altar of St Anthony of Padua in Podlehnik. The altar`s architecture and all the sculptures except for the sculpture of St John the Baptist were removed from the church. There is only one preserved photograph of the altar and it was not published jet. There, one can observe “open” creases at the lower hem of the cloths of both saints, which are typical for Joseph Straub personal style.
