Critical History

Lady Törring-Gronsfeld was the wife of Maximilian Emanuel von Törring who was the president of the chamber. There are no documents for the time of realisation. Volk presumes that the epitaph was erected soon after the death of the countess around 1755. 1 Lippert gives the epitaph no. 17 in his list.2
The form of the epitaph is concave. Its width is reduced from the bottom to the top. The stone with the inscription ends on both sides with a console that has the form of a volute. In the middle is a stoup that has the form of a shell. On the right console is standing a female sculpture which shows with her gestures that she is mourning the death of the countess. A little child (without wings) is sitting on the left side on top of the epitaph. His left hand is liftet to his eyes to take away the tears. The two coats of arm of the family Törring and the family Gronsfeld are unified under a crown. From the left side of the crown a curtain is hanging down the complete left side of the epitaph. A skull is lying on the left console.
